Gotta be grateful when someone makes healthy food tasty food. My friend brought me a Hello Burger at work one day a long long time ago. And I went, "hmmmmm, this is healthy?" I mean, is it possible to make something worth so much flavor and texture without adding junk to it? Evidently, it is possible.
So.....I went to Kailua and (regretfully) forgot to check Yelp....I got there at 5. And they close at 4. (Shameless Yelp plug coming up) if I had checked Yelp, I would have not promised goodness for dinner to my husband and family and failed. But alas, I was left out in the cold.
I tried again for breakfast, and was too early. Shoot, the stars had not aligned for me again.
Then, on a miracle day, my mom and I were in Kailua to go to Manuhealii and wham! It was open and we were hungry and *magic*
I had a "plate of healthy food" and she had the "yogi bowl with an egg." We were both impressed! And then we shared....and were re-impressed!

Since that fateful day, anytime I'm in Kailua I stop in, breakfast about toast, Thai tacos, yogi bowl, juices, pastries.....I'm working my way through their menu one delicious bite at a time.

My only gripe: why? WHY? WHY do you close so early???????? (Dear Beet Box....I work until 6.....so if you could stay open through dinner from now on, I would be happier in my foodie world....thank you for your consideration -Denby)

Wow. Does this place pack in the flavor. Currently, this place produces the best burger I have ever had. Their Portobello mushroom burger is so flavorful and fresh. It tops any meat burger I have had.

My cousin happily accompanied me until he saw the menu and realized it was vegetarian. He grumpily ordered another of their sandwich options, the VBQ. Not only has this place changed his mind about vegetarian food, he is inspired to become a vegetarian (not exaggerating).

Their lemonade is to die for as well as their juices. When I'm in Kailua, I come here for lunch.

Beet Box is easily my fave healthy breakfast/brunch spot in Kailua.

My hubby and I bring our visitors here and also have our business meetings here! They share a private lot with the Christmas store next door, but there's also plenty of metered street if it gets full (if you go on weekends).

They've got yummy EVERYTHING and super nice employees. I save a blue cup and just refill my own water bottle at their filtered water station. Their bathroom is always clean and their kids corner is perfect for your little keiki!

Make sure you bus your own table after you're pau. We respect and take care of each other's space here in Kailua. :)

My fave items are the Mexicali Blues and the Green Açaí Bowl. I can clean up both on my own! (Well, I'm currently eating for 2 so I guess I have a little helper. Lol)

Love you Beet Box! See you again soon.

This is a hidden gem in Kailua! I was so impressed with The Beet Box Cafe. If you have never eaten here, this is place is a must!
Beautiful tables, clean atmosphere, great service and they offer everything from gluten free items,  to vegan items and items that can be made vegan.
They source all local and organic whenever possible. I appreciated that they listed all of the local sources on the bottom of their menu.
We had the Banana Oat Pancakes, The Vegan Breakfast Burrito and The What's for Breakfast sandwich. The North Shore Coffee Roaster drip coffee was amazing and bottomless. Also tried the Cold Brew and Hibiscus tea!
Everyone was equally impressed and happy with their meal!
I will definitely stop in again!

I'd give them 6 stars if I could.  They're in the former Agnes Bakery location.  I had been sad to see Agnes' Bakery go--- Agnes' sweet dogs (hot dogs baked in sweet bread) were a long time family favorite.  But the Beet Box is a real gem.  Their motto is "'Your health is your wealth.'  So choose your food wisely, feel good & be happy."

My first visit I had Vegan Breakfast Burrito (Sautéed red onion, red bell pepper, garlic, zucchini, tofu and Soyrizo served with black beans, brown rice, house-made salsa, creamy cilantro sauce & avocado then rolled into a toasty flour tortilla. $12.75) which was EXCELLENT ....and then the next day I came back and had Hello Burger (signature house-made veggie burger served on a toasted whole wheat bun smeared with garlic aioli & dijon mustard topped with arugula, pickled onions & sliced cucumbers, $12.75)

It's totally possible to enjoy vegetarian/vegan food as much as traditional chow, if the chef knows what they're doing.  At Beet Box, they KNOW.

And I have to admit I felt a lot better after I ate Beet Box's food instead of Agnes' sweet dogs :)

Table tops are gorgeous natural edge wood slabs and staff was friendly and helpful.  They also DO have a bakery case filled with an assortment of vegetarian/vegan/gluten free goodies including beautiful donuts glazed with açaí.  So they're not all serious !
